Opus adds new synth engines and effects, scales and chords, tape undo, a menu of its own, your own colours and start-up picture, and more, to the original OP-1. Everything is drawn in the OP-1's own style and played with its own keys and encoders. One pack for now; with Opus 2, you pick the mods.

    At a glance

    Opus core is the foundation: the menu, the settings, and the services that let new effects and engines live inside the OP-1's own OS. Opus 1 is a set of mods built on it.

      Opus 1

      Everything in Opus 1.0, built and tested together as one firmware, for now. The pictures are the OP-1's own screens, from its real firmware running in an emulator.

      Opus core

      One small core owns every hook into the firmware and hands each event to the mods that need it. It also keeps your sounds safe, wherever they came from and wherever they go next.

      Framework

      Opus 1 is the first step toward Opus 2: not a bigger pack, but a plugin manager for the OP-1, with mods as files you add and remove yourself, the way Forge or Fabric load mods into Minecraft, or a DAW loads plugins. A mod is written against Opus (its hooks, menu, effect and engine layers, settings and storage) instead of patching the firmware on its own. The plan is on GitHub.

      4.1One set of hooks

      Every mod reaches the firmware through the same core, not its own patch.

      4.2Checked for clashes

      Two mods can't take the same key, encoder or memory. Opus says no before anything breaks, so mods built on it work together.

      4.3Already in your sounds

      Every preset saved with Opus 1 names the parts it needs, by permanent IDs, so Opus 2 can read it.

      Install

      Opus installs like any OP-1 update, through the OP-1's own update mode. Its recovery, te-boot, is never changed, so the way back is always there.

      5.1In three steps

      1. Make the update in the patcher, from your own copy of TE's firmware 246. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
      2. Switch the OP-1 off, hold com and switch it on. Press 1 (upload firmware) in the TE-BOOT menu.
      3. Connect it, copy op1_246_opus.op1 onto the OP-1 disk and eject it. The OP-1 installs it and restarts.

      5.3Coming in

      From stock or another mod, Opus starts on the data you have. A sound it can't play gets a stand-in and is never rewritten, so it's all there if you go back.

      5.4Leaving

      The cleaner makes your data ready for stock or another mod and keeps a copy of everything it changes. Install Opus again and it all comes back.

      5.5Always a way back

      Opus never changes te-boot, the OP-1's own updater and recovery. Updating Opus keeps your sounds, presets, tape and settings.
